چکیده

Abstract Low-frequency sound attenuation is often pursued using Helmholtz resonators (HRs). The introduction of a compliant wall around the acoustic cavity results in two degrees-of-freedom (2DOF) system capable more broadband absorption. In this study, we report amplitude-dependent dynamic response compliant-walled HR and investigate effectiveness compliance to improve absorption linear nonlinear regimes. acoustic-structure interactions between conventional result non-intuitive responses when acted on by amplitudes excitation pressure. This paper formulates studies reduced order model characterize 2DOF with compared that rigid HR. Validated experimental evidence, modeling framework facilitates an investigation strategies achieve attenuation, including selection material, thickness, geometry HR, other parameters readily tuned design. open up new avenues for development efficient exploiting deflection suppression extreme noise amplitudes.

Nonlinear asymptotic impedance model for a Helmholtz resonator liner

The usual nonlinear corrections for a Helmholtz resonator type impedance do not seem to be based on a systematic asymptotic solution of the pertaining equations. We aim to present a systematic derivation of a solution of the nonlinear Helmholtz resonator equation, in order to obtain analytically expressions for impedances close to resonance, while including nonlinear effects. The amplitude regi...

Transmission of Low-Frequency Acoustic Waves in Seawater Piping Systems with Periodical and Adjustable Helmholtz Resonator

The characteristics of acoustic wave transmitting in a metamaterial-type seawater piping system are studied. The metamaterial pipe, which consists of a uniform pipe with air-water chamber Helmholtz resonators (HRs) mounted periodically along its axial direction, could generate a wide band gap in the low-frequency range, rendering the propagation of low-frequency acoustic waves in the piping sys...

A theoretical model to predict the low-frequency sound absorption of a helmholtz resonator array.

A theoretical method based on mutual radiation impedance is proposed to compute the sound absorption performance of a Helmholtz resonator array in the low-frequency range. Any configuration of resonator arrangement can be allowed in the method, while all the resonators may or may not be identical. Comparisons of the theoretical predictions with those done by the past studies or experiments show...

Internal Resistance Optimization of a Helmholtz Resonator in Noise Control of Small Enclosures

Department of Mechanical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Hung Home, Kowloon, Hong Kong, SAR of China Email address: [email protected]. Abstract This paper examines the influence of the internal resistance of a Helmholtz resonator on the noise control in a small enclosure. The absorptive process mainly occurring within the neck of a Helmholtz resonator provides the resonator w...

A Smart Helmholtz Resonator

Helmholtz resonators are commonly used for tuning of acoustic systems such as industrial processes, vehicle exhaust, engine intake manifold systems and more. Past efforts resulted in limited tuning capability and significant mechanical complexity. The work presented here considers a system that modifies the acoustic response of a system continuously, online, allowing optimum performance over a ...
